Blocking access to internet

How can i block access to different websites and chat rooms from our
office server.
Some of our workers are are chatting on webmail thus not doing work.
Some on them are chatting on messengers.
I've been given task to block access to all non work related websites
and i don't know how to do it.
Please can anyone out there help me?

Try modifying the 'HOSTS' file:
For more info on how to see: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hostsfaq.htm

Example: 127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com

Once you have added the above entry, that site will be blocked.
Note: I have not tried this method on servers.

Also you may want to take a look at using a router and route table as the
above method is on a site by site basis thus creating a very long list of
entries.

This will only block access from a specific computer.

How can i block access from our router?

Would there be some changes to firewall?

I'm not a network expert (just limited experience), all I can tell you is
that in the past changes where made to Internet access at one site I worked
at and because it was botched users could not longer access my internal
servers, the network people said it was a rout table issue. In addition they
implemented a Demilitarized zone (DMZ) and Inet firewall at that time.
