I sent an e-mail to my home account from work. The message contained a file
attachment which was a URL. I sent the page by going to file|send|link by
e-mail. When I received the e-mail using Outlook 2003, a notice at the top
indicated that this attachment was being blocked. I know that this file is
safe. How do I get access to this? The file type is .url

Charlie,

I fixed this same problem on my system yesterday because a co-worker
couldn't send me an Access .mdb file. Basically it requires a registry hack
to accomplish. But it's a simple one.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\11.0\OUTLOOK\SECURITY and create
a new string value named Level1Remove. Now double-click on the newly created
subkey and type in the extension of the file type that you want to allow.
Don't forget to include the period before the extension. So in your case you
would want the Level1Remove subkey value to be ".url" (without the quotes).
For future reference, if you want to add other file types to this subkey just
separate them with a semicolon.

The .url extension would seem to be a dangerous one to leave exposed though.
So you'll want to make sure you go back and delete this subkey after you get
the one you want.

Good luck.
