I have MS Windows XP Pro & Outlook 2002 (v10.xx / SP3) and I have repeatedly
tried to block junk senders that slip past our spam control on our mail
server. Usually, the messages are labeled "***SPAM***" in which case I have
a rule to move any message that has "***SPAM***" in the subject to a Junk
Mail folder, which works fine.
However, I am getting bombarded with messages from multiple users and always
with a different variant of spelling in the subject (so locking the messages
down by subject or by sender is impossible) - any time I block it, yet
another message gets through because the subject or the sender changes.
Therefore, I created a rule to search for specific words in the BODY to
block, because all the messages are for some pharmaceutical (and I'm sure,
bogus) company pushing the sale of "Cialis" "Valium" and "Viagra". So, I
used those as the flag words in the rule to delete.
Except, the rule is NOT catching those messages. It seems to be ignoring
the fact that those three words are in the body and won't delete the emails.
Am I not understanding how the "by specific words in body" rule works? I
spelled the words EXACTLY as they appear in the email, but it's not working.
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of "spam" and have you found out a rule
setup to block them? These are tricky messages that are constantly changing
their email sender addresses and subject lines (most likely to avoid being
blocked by spam-blockers). My system is checked with a network version of
Norton Anti-Virus (as well as the mail server) and I frequently check my
computer with anti-spyware software "AdAware" and "Spybot - Search & Destroy"
(which I update constantly). I don't believe that it's a
trojan/malware/virus/spyware/etc. infecting my computer.
It's not like I can't just delete the messages, it's just annoying that I
get them constantly - every morning at least 1 or 2 of these messages are in
my inbox, and I get at least 3-5 more throughout the day. I tried to create
the rules so I DON'T have to take the time to go into my inbox and delete
them.
