blank disc recognition

Neither WMP or my Comp in general will recognize a blank disc.

I have tried to troubleshoot my drive but that did not help anything. I can
play a disc or a DVD, but it just won't read a blank one.

I also tried updating driver and that didn't help. Any help would be
appreciated.

I checked out what that had to say and I do have the recording tab under
properties. Also, it is a DVD-RW drive and it recognizes the dvd-r I put in
there, just not the cd-r's.

I ran a drivecheck which did a write/read test and it worked fine a the
dvd-r but once again could not recognize the cd-r to do the test.

Looks like the read heads are OK, but the write head drivers are either
not installed or possibly dead. You can remove the drive from your PC
and take it to a nearby PC repair shop to have it checked out, or buy a
new drive. You can download the Everest Home Edition of Lavalys.com
to test your system, it is free.
