Another person reported that RIM had advised they would be updating BeS/Blackberry connect during SP4, possibly near summer, to add
that capability.
For 'regular' Windows/Word users there is a MS Office compatibility pack that opens the .docx files. For Windows Mobile the MS
Pocket PC folks would be the ones who would create a converter for the Pocket PC apps and there is a converter being worked on,
although I haven't heard of a time frame for it yet.
(Folks who have Office 2007 can still choose to use 'Save as Word 97-2003' (.doc) file format, but in the meantime you may want to
try either the online converter
http://docx-converter.com to see if that gives you the short term capability. The Office 2007 file
formats are an open standard (zipped XML files) so I'd guess there will be other 3rd party solutions available in the coming months
as well.
Unable to read word docs from those using 2007, (the extension is now docx
rather than doc. Is there a conversion program from Microsoft? Spoke to
Research in Motion and they advised me that it Mocrosoft needs to write a
conversion progam as they did for older versions of Office.
Suggestions please.>>
