black screen

i loaded win 2000 on my pc and when i go to boot into it after the
loading win 2000 screen the screen goes black and stays that way
 
F8 at startup and try a "Safe Mode" boot.

While in Safe Mode, change the screen resolution to 800x600
and the screen refresh rate to 60 Hz.
 
Also check that the correct driver is installed for your graphics adapter.
