Bizarre mouse behavior

I have a Saitek Gaming mouse. I have not programmed it -- the default
settings are still in effect, so it should work like a regular mouse.
But it does weird things --

Left button -- sometimes a double-click will open a folder; sometimes
it brings up the context menu that the right-click used to bring up.

Right button -- doesn't work at all.

Suggestions?

Have you confirmed that the device actually works as intended?
I'd try it on another computer to see if the same thing happens... if it
does, it might be the mouse, if it doesn't, then you will have at least
confirmed that the device works.

That on its own will simplify the troubleshooting process...

I switched mice. The old mouse has the same problems. Sometimes the
right-click won't work, and other times the left key works as a
right-click. Suggestions?
