You flash the Bios. You yourself cannot edit it, only the bios manufacturer
can do that. As for bios updates i suggest you take a look at your pc
manufacturer's web site under support.

You can't edit it directly, but there may be a flash BIOS upgrade
available for it. Contact your manufacturer or try their web
site.

Why do you think you need to upgrade your BIOS?
Certainly don't do it just because it's X years old and there are
upgrades available. Although a BIOS upgrade normally goes well,
it is not without danger. If something goes wrong while the
upgrade is an progress (for example, a lapse in power) you can be
left with no BIOS at all, and an unbootable computer.

Do a BIOS upgrade if you need to--because you are having a
problem that the new version is known to fix--not just because
one is available.

When posting the same message to multiple newsgroups, CROSSPOST instead
of multiposting. Multiposting wasted disk space for your duplicated
message and waste bandwidth from users downloading the duplicate
messages. Multiposting also eliminates collating all replies made in
the other newsgroups so they can be seen no matter in which newsgroup
your post is viewed. Crossposting is polite, saves resources, and lets
others see what replies have already been made so they don't waste time
duplicating someone else's equivalent reply. By the way, your post is
off-topic for this newsgroup. You are asking a hardware problem and
which has nothing to do with whatever operating system you happen to
use. Flashing your BIOS is independent of using Windows, Linux, DOS, or
whatever OS floats your boat. When you crosspost, or even when
multiposting, posts to groups that are related to your post.

See your other multipost in ("BIOS upgrade" posted by RDG in microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware).
