BIOS Battery

I need to change my BIOS internal battery, ( not keeping
accurate time) Once I change and power back up what do I
need to do? I have Windows XP, Compaq desktop.

Hi,

Unless you changed BIOS default settings, there is nothing you need to do.
If you did, then make note of them before you shut down, as the battery
change will usually wipe them, and return to the default setup.

BTW, loss of time while Windows is running is not an indication of a weak
battery, it is an indication of a software conflict. Only time loss while
shut down should be attributed to a failing battery.

You would know if you really needed to change your BIOS battery, as
you would almost certainly be getting configuration errors, dumping
you into BIOS setup, every time you booted up.

Your losing time is probably not related to BIOS but XP. It happens.
