Beta Expiry

M

MindSmith

My MS Antispyware expires in 38 days . . . then what ?

When will the final be released ? Been doing alot of
comparative testing on the same systems versus SpyBot,
Symantec SAV CE 10, etc & so far the result for MS have
been very good!

It happens that MindSmith formulated :
My MS Antispyware expires in 38 days . . . then what ?

Hi

This is what we know. MS must inform better ! IMHO.

Message from Mr Dodson, MSFT

I would say that the expiration issue will be resolved fairly soon as
we will push forward the timebomb. We are in the final test pass on the
next release and as soon as we have finished the testing, it will be
broadly announced. The next version should put a dent in reducing the
following major issues:

1) July 31 Timebomb
2) LSP breaking.
3) Flying toasts when start bar is docked on the side.

I am real excited that these items will be fixed soon so we can focus
on finalizing beta 2.

You forget to take your meds?

First you claim that MS needs to do a better job informing and then you
quote the information that has been provided.

What more do you want? It's not a book report, it's a complex piece of
software. I'm content to go back on expiration day and see what they have
put up to move forward. It's not like I'm using this on a production
machine anyway.

Mr Niceguy ! can you please step down from your podium ?

And users are worried about this and therefore information IS needed.
I don?t believe that a user must go to a newsgroup to find out
such important information as expiry dates, hidden in a mess of
messages.

Simmer down, guys.

If it helps, I tend to be on plun's side: Anybody who opens the app sees a
very short expiration date and it is natural to worry about that. This
results in threads like this one, which could, of course, be very short--no
need for more than two or three messages--we do know the answer. It'd be
nicer if the answer were somewhat clearer and easier to find, but I don't
think we'll need to wait very long before that's clarified.

That's bad--close to disaster, I'd say.

Exactly what, in detail, did Spybot Search & Destroy find?

Can you submit a Tools, suspected spyware report from Microsoft Antispyware?

Microsoft Antispyware is intended to find keyloggers. If you find such a
critter in place, I'd recommend calling (in the U.S. or Canada)
1-866-pcsafety for free help with virus or security patch issues. This is
Microsoft PSS's free support for this kind of issue, and for a keylogger,
help may be required to remove it properly.

None of us are acting at our brightest when we start analyzing our peers or
the posters, rather than trying to help.

It's hot out there. On Friday, I left the house in the hands of a cleaning
person and my 17 year old son, who was in bed on the third floor.

I got home at 6:45 in the evening and found the temperature in the dining
room was well over 95 degrees--off the scale of the thermometer on the
thermostat. Somebody had hit the levers on the gas hot water heating system
and shoved them all the way to the top.

My son had called me around 4:30 asking if he could go to the pool with a
friend and use a guest pass we had, 'cause it was hot. He never noticed,
apparently, that the radiators were hot!

I shut the furnace down, as I should have earlier in the season. The
radiators were still noticeably warm to the touch well into the night,
though. Cast iron does a great job of holding onto the heat.

Anyway, it's steamy out there--where I live in the middle of the east coast
of the US, anyway, and I don't sleep real well and tempers get shorter.

Doesn't mean we have to let things degenerate here, though?

Of course you're right, Bill. At the moment, I'm in The Pacific Northwest
and it's cool and comfortable as usual. I have lived on the right coast
though and I can empathize with your discomfort.

I think we can close this chapter and start to write a new one, this
is
not leading us anywhere.

I am maybe unpolite about MS and JohnF stands totally rock solid about
what he
have strong opinions about and what he thinks is right or wrong.

We are different and its better to move forward and close this chapter.

are downloading MSAS for the first time.

Oh no, Andre. There is no comparison between you and Johnf. You are one of
the most helpful and knowledgeable people I've seen here and you have so
much more patience with the dumb questions than I could ever have.
