just a question/suggestion to MSAS

Now that Microsoft announces that IE7 and Microsoft
Antispyware will somewhat be integrated will we expect
MSAS and IE 7 to be release at same month/year/day. as
right now plans for MSAS is a blur and it doesn't seem
its going to be final as many people want it to be.
Hopefully if Microsoft plans to extend the expiration
date, which i think they will since beta 1 has been a
problem/buggy antispyware, They should at least consider
posting when the final version of this antispyware will
be release and will it be free on the main Microsoft
Antispyware website.

Steve Dodson did post some very helpful information in
this regard recently in these groups:

There will be an update soon, and, following that at some
point, beta2. There will be a final released version
which will be available to Windows users at no additional
cost. My own guess about when that availability will be
is 4th quarter of 2005--but this is a pure guess--if it
weren't, I wouldn't be able to post it!

-----------------------------
I would say that the expiration issue will be resolved
fairly soon as we
will push forward the timebomb. We are in the final test
pass on the next
release and as soon as we have finished the testing, it
will be broadly
announced. The next version should put a dent in reducing
the following
major issues:

1) July 31 Timebomb
2) LSP breaking.
3) Flying toasts when start bar is docked on the side.

I am real excited that these items will be fixed soon so
we can focus on
finalizing beta 2.

Which would prove my point about integration also with IE7, which is also
expected to be released at the end of the year.

Will MSAS only be released integrated with IE7 and if so, will IE7 run on
Windows 2000?

thanks

That's an excellent question. I remember looking at this awhile
back--somebody else asked it in a slightly different way. I believe that
Microsoft Antispyware's capabilities will continue to be available to
Windows 2000 users. I can't remember whether I've read a clear statement
about availability of IE7 on Windows 2000 or not, but my present suspicicion
is...not.

So--I think there will still be a standalone, free, version of this product,
but I'm speculating along with everyone else here.

Mea culpa! I'm not sure what happened here--I was posting using the web
interface, and that paragraph is definitely my interpretation of things, and
nothing that Steve Dodson has said--Steve's quote is contained by dashed
lines below that paragraph.

Internet Explorer 7 will not be made available for Windows 2000, only
Windows XP "SP2" and up. MSAS will not be integrated with IE 7, but they
will compliment each other on the fight against spyware.

Mea culpa second! :-s, I was just interpretating what could happen, or what
I would like to see happen. But I was just speculating mainly on the
release, and it would be good to have beta 2 of MSAS and IE 7 going so we
work out the differences between both products for exceptional releases.
