Best Newsgroup - Want Proof? Watch This

This is absolutely the best, friendly, non abusive, helpful group in the
world of XP troubles. Want proof? Watch this thread:

I only noticed today that when I tried to run "ipconfig" it wouldn't run. I
hit the start button, the menu pops up that offers "run", I type in
"ipconfig", and the black box flashes for an infrasecond and that's it.

Any ideas why this is happening?

I can indeed ask for "msconfig" and it works fine, because a different type
of window pops up. But all of a sudden, I can't get the black DOS (which I
know nothing about) window to pop up. I just want to be able to ping my own
address like I once used to.

Thanks for any advice.

In the Run box type cmd, click OK. The "black box" that opens is a
command prompt and from there you can type ipconfig to your hearts
content.

Thanks Warren! That did it!

I had forgotten how to pull up the black (DOS) box.

Have a great 2004!
