I'm looking for a newsgroup where I can ask a question about software that
isn't freeware or shareware. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for the best compression software out there. I don't know how
much you can compress a file. But, I'm looking for the one that makes the
files the smallest. Tried 7-zip and it make the files small enough. I'd
like something that can make large files compressed into smaller files. I
don't care if it is free or paid, I just need something that will compress
large files into something much smaller. If such software exists.
Probably the bzip2 algorithm, properly tuned, is what you are lookingMichael said:I'm looking for the best compression software out there. I don't know how

video and audio information so the final files only looks like and
sounds like original, but they are not, because of imperfections in
our own eyes and ears.
Nowadays, I use 7zip; I know there are better packers out there, but
last time I checked, they were all very close in results. And it's
handy and free. And supported in most packing programs for unpacking.

If you are "packing" up a bunch of files into a single archive, you can
often do better by first of all archiving them with 0% compression, and
then packing that file.
