Best Freeware IRC Client?

The irc protocol support has been included in miranda installation
file since version 0.3.1. I have been using miranda (irc) almost
everyday without any problem.

I stand corrected. IRC support is listed in several places deeper on
the Miranda site. That SourceForge project I stumbled across appears to
be trying to make Miranda into an mIRC work-alike, which isn't the same
thing at all. Sorry for any confusion I caused.

You are welcome. As I wrote a little earlier, the irc protocol is
now natively included in miranda's installation file : no plugin
needed.
