I feel the same way you do, the only way the Anti virus
manufacturers can compete is by releasing (virus) scripts
of their own, (although harmless) and different from
their competitors. Case and point if I run Grisoft AVG
free edition along with McAfee, AVG claims to find items
McAfee does not see at all and vice versa.
Let's take this a short step further, each of the three
Spyware manufacturers, SpyBot, Adaware and Pest Patrol
(all of which I run) are finding different items at each
scan.
But one thing is for sure there are lots of little nastys
out there and you certainly need one of them.
Who invents these little buggers, well, if there was
tighter legislation and investigations and maybe
prosecution these things would not be standing in the way
of our enjoyment and various uses on the internet.
That's just my opinion.
