What is the best anti-malware solution ? What about PC Doctor ?

Also, routers with firewalls, what can they do, which one is best ?

Any other info appreciated too.

Thanks.

There is no one best anti-malware out there, besides not using the
PC. You need to build a multi-level protection:

example:

router
software firewall
anti-virus software
anti-malware shielding software
a few anti-malware scanner softwares

There is no simple "best." Note that a single such program is not good
enough to protect you. Note what Eric Howes, who has done extensive
testing on Anti-Spyware products, states:

"No single anti-spyware scanner removes everything. Even the
best-performing anti-spyware scanner in these tests missed fully one
quarter of the "critical" files and Registry entries" See
http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-test-guide.htm

So given that a single product is not enough for good protection, two
are better than one, three are better than two, and so on.

Do you "need" more than two? There's no clear answer to those
questions. My own practice is very conservative, and I
personally run

Spybot Search and Destroy
Adaware
Spyware Blaster
Windows Defender
Super-Antispyware
A-Squared

but not at the same time.

They can prevent intrusions, and they are all good at it.

After 10 years with a fairly simple email address I have finally been forced
to change my ISP solely in order to cut out the spam. I have been regularly
receiving over 200 spam emails a day.
I use mailwasher pro and filters, approved lists etc in the orange web site
but as others said there does not seem to be any way to stop it. I also use
crap cleaner, ad-aware, zone alarm pro and spybot as well as my virus
checker.
The orange web site certainly puts them into the deleted folder or junk but
it has limits. I know that while they are in the orange web site they need
not bother me but they do.
I have now changed to a less obvious email address for my personal mail and
use hotmail for business purposes. I think that this is the way to go; set
up at least 2 and maybe even 3 or 4 email addresses and keep them separate.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

What about these malware programs masquerading as anti-malware programs ?
What is the best way to identify and get rid of those ?

Hii,
I have installed the combo of Macfee & Advanced System Protector,For me Advanced System Protector is the best antispyware, it not only blocks the spyware/malware b4 it can enter your system, will also clean the infections if any and it gives routine updates of the latest definitions and is very easy to use.free version of ASP is also available which provides free scanning and cleaning.Try this.
