Beginner w/ Folder Problems

I am truely a beginner at Frontpage 2003. I played around with several pages
so I now have 4 folders and other files under my "Documents\My Web Sites"
folder. I want to clean off everything that I have created and start from
scratch. In other words clean up this mess. I would like to delete everything
under "My Web Sites" that I can but I am unsure of what is part of the
program and what was created by me. Could someone please help me with this?
Thank You,

Warning - when deleting from FrontPage, whatever is deleted is gone
forever - there is no recycle bin involved. Make a backup first if
there is anything you wish to keep.

If you open My Documents\My Web Sites in FrontPage, you can safely
delete everything you see, except the images and _private folders. This
includes any sub webs you may have created. You can also delete the
contents of the images and _private folders, but not the actual folders.

Use Tools->Site Settings - Advanced tab, and tick the box labelled "Show
hidden files and folders", click OK and allow the web to refresh. This
displays hidden folders that can also be deleted.

If you have used themes and FrontPage navigation, in Windows Explorer
you can also delete the _derived folders and contents - these are hidden
in FrontPage. Do NOT delete any other folders with Windows Explorer.
It will not be necessary to use Windows Explorer unless the FP
navigation components have been used.

Finally, in FrontPage run Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks. This will
remove any meta data that is no longer required.

Warning (worth repeating) - when deleting from FrontPage, whatever is
deleted is gone forever - there is no recycle bin involved. Make a
backup first if there is anything you wish to keep.

In addition to what Ron said, and with the same caveats, if you want to
totally kill an entire website;
Open FP
File | Open Site ... open the site you want to delete
In the left hand Folder List column select the root (the very top folder),
then; Edit | Delete
You'll get a pop-up asking you if you want to Delete everything about this
web (something like that) ... yes.

Another question please?
I am going to have more than one domain name and web site. Is there any
recommendations on how to set up the folders? I don't want to end up with ten
million files so I always use folders to keep things organized. Josh you guys
are great for helping me.

Could you please look at the new question? Thank You

Hi Donna,

Using folders is a good way to organize things..so it's a question of where
those folders are.

With FrontPage you can create as many webs as you would like and inside
those webs you can have as many folders and files as you would like. But the
important thing is to first actually create the web.

After you start FrontPage the first step to creating a web would be to go
to:

File | New | and then possibly choose "one page Web site"

After you create and name the web site..you then create pages for it inside
of that web rather than individually on your hard drive.

And, don't ever turn My Documents into a web folder :)

You HAVE to have web folders, you should never have loose pages and files
laying around...

C:\My Documents\My Webs\thisoldweb
C:\My Documents\My Webs\thisotherwebofmine
C:\My Documents\My Webs\grandmasweb

are examples of different webs stored under My Webs. The only thing you have
to worry about is to NOT publish grandmasweb to the incorrect
http://www.website.com.
IOW your local webs can be named ANYTHING so be careful when you publish to
the server.

Dear Joe & Rob, Thank you so much for your help. Now I understand how I can
use and organize my files and folders.
