Battery Warning

I am running Vista on an HP laptop. I have figured out how to set the
critical battery power levels for shutdown etc, but..... how do I set either
an audible warning or a popup when the battery is low.

I know the small icon changes as the power drops but this is easily
overlooked and the first thing I notice is that he machine is shutting
itself down.

Go to the Sounds item in Control Panel (Hardware and Sounds, then Change
system sounds) and set the most annoying sound you can find for low and
critical battery warnings.
