Battery Icon in Taskbar is Gone?

I googled this topic and found 3-4 other people have this problem but had no
help. On my Windows Xp Pro Gateway Laptop (brand new), I noticed that the
Power Options icon "the battery or the Ac icon" don't show anymore. This is
not a matter of hiding unused icon's in the properties menu. They are just
gone, I have checked power options in control panel and checked always show
in taskbar? So I have no idea what's going on with it.

If it's brand new, you should be able to get some answers from Gateway. Of
course, if you find the answer on your own, that's great too--but I'd still
put them to work until such time as you DO find it That's part of the
reason they are so expensive--tech support.
