If I connect 3 XP SP2 PCs to a ethernet Hub (SOHO-8 brand) and run the
Network Setup Wizard on each, giving the correct answers to the Wizard in
each case, what IP Addresses will be given to the 2 slaves and where do they
come from?
Since you say there are slave computers, I assume that there's a
master computer.
If the master computer is configured for Internet Connection Sharing,
it will run a DHCP server that assigns 192.168.0.x addresses to the
slaves.
If there's no DHCP server on the network, the computers will assign
themselves automatic private IP addresses in the 169.254.x.x range.
Should this be all that is necessary to get the network going, assuming the
right cables, and that the firewalls have been turned off?

I can't answer that without knowing exactly how the network is set up
and what answers you gave to the Wizard.
I recommend not turning off firewalls. If you have a third-party
firewall program (Norton, Symantec, PC-cillin, ZoneAlarm, etc), turn
it on and configure it to allow access by other computers on the local
area network. Otherwise, turn on the Windows Firewall and allow
exceptions for file and printer sharing.
