BartShell Module

Hi tonyusa,

Since the Bartshell Module is not part of Windows, I did a search on Google
to see if I could find any information about it. Seems it is related to
software for the ISP "Peoplepc":
http://www.peoplepc.com/

One potential workaround for the Bartshell Module problem is to manually
create your dialup connection (Network Connections>Create a New
Connection>Connect to the Internet>Set up my connection manually, etc.),
using the local access numbers for the ISP, rather than using the connection
created by Peoplepc software.

Please...can someone tell me what could be wrong? When I connect to my pc I
cant get my home page, I get a message that says: BartShell Module
encountered a problem and has to close.

Does anyone know what the problem could be and how I can fix this..Please??/

Thanks a million!!!!

I really much rather do the fixing up with the help you offered me rather
than wait for peoplepc. If you have the time and patience to teach me how to
fix the problem by doing my own manual coinnection like you suggested, I
really would rather do it with your help. You are a very kind lady and I love
to hear from you..ok?Please?

You're welcome! :)

I hope you have better luck with their support personnel than some who have
posted their comments regarding their dissatisfaction with Peoplepc.

Patti:

I was also doing some checking on Google and saw that it was part of
peoplepc. I am awaiting their reply and will see what they have to say. I
will get back to you and tell you what they suggested..ok?

Thanks a million!

Lets keep in (e-mail address removed)

Since I do not have a dial-up modem thus have never had reason to install
dial-up networking in WINXP, I did a search for an online tutorial that may
better assist you. Here is one that is complete with screenshots (I always
like to, if possible, direct people to tutorials that include screenshots):
http://helpdesk.fsu.edu/internet/dialup/winxp.cfm
The tutorial is for setting up a connection to a particular ISP, but the
basic steps are the same........just substitute the information related to
that particular ISP for the information that relates to Peoplepc (eg.,
substitute Peoplepc for FSU Internet in the ISP field, and substitute the
local access phone number for Peoplepc in the Phone number field, etc.)

Hope this helps!

Patti!! God Bless you! you did it for me! I did and followed the last
instuctions you sent me..wham!! That took care of the problem! I owe you big
time!!!
I have one more little problem and I dont trust anyone now but you. This is
the problem: When I click on START and then click either shutdown or reboot,
it starts to and then it freezes at the screen that says: Windows is shutting
down..it stays on that screen and nothing else happens. I have to press the
button on the pc to shutdown and then start it up. Can you tell me what could
the problem be and how to fix it!

Patti, I also want to let you know how greatful I am when people help me,
that I want to offer you my cabin in the Mountains of North Carolina for you
and your family to use whenever you feel like it. Please feel free to look at
it by going here: http://spaces.msn.com/members/tony28604

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you care to use it, I have it there
as a get away from the big city home. Again, thank you for the help and I
hope to hear from you again with a fix for this problem and also for when you
care to use the cabin.

You're welcome!! So glad that I was able to help you solve the problem :)

As for the Shutdown problem, shutdown/restart problems may arise from a
variety of sources. A good place to start is MVP Jim Eshelman's WINDOWS XP
SHUTDOWN & RESTART TROUBLESHOOTING:
http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm

In addition, I would recommend posting a question regarding the freeze-up at
shutdown in the Parasites - Adware, Spyware & Other Scumware subforum of the
Aumha forums:

You have to register in order to post questions or other responses at the
forum, but registration is free.
It may not be malware related, but ya never know :)

That is a beautiful cabin, and some pretty wonderful scenery!!!

Well, unfortunately, my coffee break is over, and I must get back to work :-(
