Internet works fine for a few minutes then stops

Matt

I connect to the internet with Peoplepc online. It dials and connects fine.
For the first few minutes it works like normal, but after that i get a
"cannot find server" message and i have to disconnect and reconnect to
continue.
Is this a virus?

It could be a virus, spyware or a number of other things. First, check your
email setting to ensure the program isn't set to hang up after sending and
receiving. Then I would do a thorough scan using *all* installed and
updated (definitions) anti-virus and spyware programs (I've included links
to some programs you might add.) Next you might *shut down* the computer
and restart it to reset the modem. If your still having problems disable
v.90 and use v.34 should you have line noise. You might also update your
modem driver or ensure you have the correct one installed.

Some good free programs.

You might check out PC Pitstop http://www.pcpitstop.com/default.asp and do a
full PC tune up. The test produces information that might help you trace
your problems (see "test details.") There are also utilities that can help
improve connection http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/tweakmaster/ .
