Balloon tips on XP system tray show up behind taskbar

Does anyone have this problem? I am certain it is a long standing bug in
XP. I have seen this issue since the first releases of XP, but I've never
experienced it in Win2k or versions of Windows prior to WinME. I am not so
worried about the baloon tips for my programs, but the one system tray
balloon tip which has a tendency to pop up behind the Takbar, is the
month/date when you hover over the time. The problem is sometimes corrected
by logging off and back on again, but I have observed this issue across
several XP systems running on different hardware.

Hi Danny,

This is a known bug, and there is no known fix to date.

For a temporary fix:
Go to Taskbar - Properties:
Uncheck - Keep the taskbar on top and lock taskbar.
Hit Apply and OK.
Reverse the process and click apply and OK

my xp home sp2 laptop was doing that pretty regularly
can't think of anything I've done that may have fixed it other than
scf /scanonce - it hasn't been doing it at all lately.

almost like it is intentional so you cannot duplicate the fix.

try Notepad, then.

I would be wary of any registry modifying file where you cannot edit it to
see what it does before applying it.

Hi Danny,

Generally speaking, ending explorer.exe and restarting the process or
rebooting solves this issue.
