"Bad parameter type" error message

I have a spreadsheet which has 1 cell that is linked to a third party
application & retrieves the logged in username of this application into the
cell. When I open the spreadsheet I get the error message:

"Bad parameter type. Microsoft Excel is expecting a different kind of value
than what was provided."

I know that it is this cell that is causing the problem but I don't know
what is causing the problem. I have other spreadsheets that uses the same
link to the third party app & they work fine.
