I have a virus on my Win XP which has been identified by Panda anti virus and it even lists the file as being unable to be neutralized. Due to fact that the file is protected. I Have Full administrative rights to change file attributes but it will not let me change it. The virus is A Backdooor "Agent.E" as identified by Panda and the file location is C:\windows\system32\comil.dll. When I open the poperties for the file comil.dll and try to change it from read only it says " Error changing Attributes: An error occurred applying attributes to the file: C:\WINDOWS|system32\comil.dll Access is denied " there are several buttoms below it to choose "Ignore, Ignore All, Retry and Cancell". Even if I try to reset the whole system32 folder from read only I get the same result. There should be some way to change the read only attribute on this file. I have tried to rename the file also to no avail. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

This will probably do it.

Log in with an administrator account, in Control Panel\Folder Options\
View\remove check from Simple File Sharing (recommended).
Go into file properties\Security\Advanced Options\Ownership.
Take ownership of folder and apply special permissions to your account,
then remove other accounts or processes from security tab.
In file Properties\General\remove read only if checked.
In Properties\General\Advanced Options\remove all checks.
Try and delete now.

If after this you still not able to delete, try it in safe mode
