Can't login

I am not great with PC's, but I need help here

I have read previous threads that suggest the sympton of windows logging out
as quickly as I login is as a result of being infected by Blazefind.
Unforunately, by the time I realised I think my virus software had deleted
the virus (Panda IS 2009 ). However when I check the file name it is showing
as C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe, which I believe is correct. However I
still have the problem

Can anyone help?

Can also be a symptom of a corrupt profile.

Have you tried logging in safe mode?
Have you tried logging in as another user?
Have you tried logging in as the built-in administrator?

What version and service pack level of Windows XP do you have?

Hi Shenan,

Am in safe mode now, which seem to work
Have Windows XP home and service pack 3
Have tried logging in as another user and same thing happens
Have not tried as admin - need to set that up again as doesn't appear on my
welcome screen.
Sometimes in normal modem login doesn';t even make it as far as welcome screen

PC was working fine - not aware of doing anything to make this happen

XP does not display the built in administrator account whenever there are
locally created accounts.
Hence, you do not need to do anything to this account until after you try to
access it.

In XP Pro, at the login screen, enter Ctrl-Alt-Delete. A prompt for
username and password will appear. Just enter Administrator in the username
box, and either enter the password for this account which you set or press
the enter key if the password is the default setting of blank.

Somebody else will tell you about XP Home..
