I am trying to use the backup utility to back up my hard
drive. I succeeded in creating a backup file (*.bkf) on my
hard drive itself, but when I try to backup on the CD
drive (as the destination medium) I get a message that
says "D: is not a valid drive or you do not have access".
Of course I have a good disk in the drive and saving files
on the disk works well outside of the backup utility.

NTBackup can't back up to a CD.

Backup to a file on you HD and burn the CD from the file.
