There are many backup programs and many zip programs but I remember a
command line program that went through a directory structure backed them
up and zipped the files within the backup directory structure. So
instead of these monster 2G zip files I keep ending up with it had the
existing directory structure.

I know this wastes space with the overhead for each file but I'm
prepared to put up with that for the simplicity.

I could alwys brush up on my scripting skills but I would rather someone
else do it!

Anybody recognize this?

I believe that Polder Backup stores each file in a separate zip; I
assume it maintains the directory structure.

It's GUI, though, not command-line:

You're correct, Polder Backup does as you say. In addition, you can
control the level of compression and it does incremental backups. Great
program.

Likewise Cobian Backup, a very simple and good program.
