Backup via systemtools/backup

J

Joni

I havae a Win XP. I can backup to my external drive (G) using Norton Ghose
and/or do manual backups so G is recogniszzed as on My Computer.

I wanted to try the backup via system tools/backup but when I get to the
option to select drive my External Drive (G) is not on the list and there is
no way to just type it it. How can it be added?

What "system tools/backup" are you talking?
There is no "backup" under "system tools" (in Computer Management).

If you mean %windir%\system32\ntbackup.exe,
it works fine for me.
I can run it and select my USB Thumb drive as destination.
And backup my stuff successfully.

He is not talking about System Tools in the Computer Management screen he is
talking about "Backup" under Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools.
I have an HP with Windows Media Center and that is exactly where they
installed the Backup or Restore Wizard, same as ntbackup.exe that you
mentioned.

Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Backup and you get the Backup or
Restore Wizard and you click next until you come to a page Where To Backup
and all it shows is my floppy drive and my zip drive.

I do not use Ghost but, I do back up to an external drive. It would
just fine with the windows backup--I do not use the Backup Wizard. all
you need do is click the backup tap and select the files to backup and
then the destination drive. Use the advanced feature to verify your backup.

The backup is located in the program files under Accessories/system tools.
