I am performing a backup operation on my XP professional
laptop. trying to save about 460 MB to a CDR. This
procedure is now taking about 4 hrs+, which seems very
excessive. Is this normal or is there some way I can
speed this up?
TIA
John

I can backup 500 meg in about 4-5 minutes. I am running an Athlon XP 3200+
processor with 512 meg or RAM. As you don't give your system specifics, who
knows what is causing your problem! For all we know you are using a 486
processor with 32 meg of RAM.

If you want help, try again!

I have a pentium 4 at 2.0 GHz, and 256 RAM. I am using an
Imation 1x CDR, and I am using Roxio's EZ CD Creator 5.
Any other information that would help?
Thanks,
JOhn

"...1x CDR..."

There's your answer. Today's CD burners record at 52x.

See! You got your answer. Also, disable any antivirus from running when you
copy to the CD. It will help to speed things up a bit. Hey. A new CD burner
can be had for about $50.00
