Backup question

Can you backup your website from the host server to your local machine? The
purpose would be to get the private info such as passwords from your user
registration pages. My host deleted my site and I lost all passwords for my
clients.

Thanks,

Terry

Normally yes. If the server has FrontPage extensions installed, open the
live site in FrontPage, select File > Publish web... and publish to a
location on your hard drive.
With out extensions open it via ftp and ftp back to your hard drive.

But if it's deleted, it obviously won't work.

I had a similar question a while ago. Wouldn't you need FP ext loaded to maintain the features?

I guess the bigger question is where are the passwords stored? I can't find
them on my live site or my backup. The rest of the info is stored in
regdb.txt in the private folder but passwords are omitted. I assume this is
a security issue. If I ask the registration info to be emailed to me when
someone registers, their password and password verification are also
emailed. But I can't find it on the live site or backup.
