Hello. I am going to buy a new computer vith VISTA Ultimate and Office
Proffesional 2007. Now I use the old machine with VISTA Ultimate RC2 5744 and
Office 2007 (trial). I have got serverall contacts, messeges and so on at my
Otlook. I am going to make a backup (.pst. files) of it. How to transfer this
pst. file to my new computer. I remember that I had got some problems with
this operation before (acces denied). Simply use "import"? Greetengs

Are you going to use File and setting transfer wizard or manually reinstall?

If you use FSTW you shouldn't have to do a thing. If not, I don't see why
import wouldn't work. It worked with a backup of my Outlook 2003 contacts
and messages into 2007 Outlook. Something else you could do would be to
download the Outlook Backup Utility Program, use it to create a backup of
your.pst file, then install the utility in your new Outlook 2007, and use the
restore function. If you experience any issues after your .pst is imported
(with either method) run the scanpst.exe file and it should correct any
errors if found. I doubt you will have issues though.
You can find the backup utility at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...3A-B7D0-4B16-B8AF-5A6322F4FD01&displaylang=en

Information on the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) is here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497/

Hope that helps you out. Take care.

Never use import. Here are the very complicated instructions for copying
your Outlook data file.
1.Using Windows Explorer, copy your Outlook data file to the medium you have
chosen to transfer your file.
2. Copy said file to your new hard drive. Make sure it acquired no read only
attributes.
3. Open it in your new installation of Outlook (File > Open > Outlook Data
File...). It's your choice after that. You can copy what you want from it
into your new data file, or reset Outlook to keep using your old file.

I did backup of my Office. It stores on DVD. I am going to do clean install
of VISTA and Office. Does this backup utility (you gabe me link) work with
Otlook 2007?

It worked for me, but listen to the microsoft guy. He knows more than I do
by far.
Wish I could have helped more. Good luck!

A pst stored on a dvd/cd cannot be accessed, you would need to copy to some
location on your hd, do not ovewrite any existing pst, then remove the read
only flag, before in OL, File>Open>Data File.....browse to location
