BACKUP in XP PRO - Can't get it to run.

Has anyone used the Backup feature in XP Pro?

I cannot get it to work.

I select the files and folders to be backed up - everything except a very
large folder containing photographic images - but, when I try to start the
backup to CD, I get an error message saying,

"The backup file name could not be used. D:\Backup.bkf Please ensure that it
is a valid path and that you have sufficient access."

Is there something wrong with the file name? It's the default name that is
offered by the program, so there shouldn't be.

Thanks.

The inbuilt burning of XP does not support use of a CD writer as output
medium from a program - that needs 'packet writing' and third party
software (see http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.htm). In any case the
NTBackup will not 'span' CDs - the only removable media it supports are
tapes (and floppies). I have used Sonic DLA successfully with it
(despite what the DLA readme says) to output to a DVD, provided that was
big enough at 4.2 GB for the backup file concerned. But really the
backup program is provided as 'legacy' support for those upgrading from
NT
