An opinion about everything

Hi, I am sure that this has been posted a million times but i can't
seem to find a good answer...

Situation
Win2K network with 2DC's and several file servers.
Many Linux servers

Problem
How can I backup all of these servers using one central solution. I
can't go crazy and spend loads of money but I want something reliable.
I would prefer that the backup software ran from Linux but that is
not an issue to worry about.

Can someone please suggest applications, hardware and configurations
that are worth investigating? i.e. which tape drives are better to
buy, which tape formats should be avoided, good and bad backup
software etc.

Thanks In Advance

Suggestion: Arcserve with a robotic tape loader.

I use Arcserve in conjunction with an Adic Scalar 218 that holds 16 DLT tapes and has two
DLT tape drives. Also used are to two AIT2 wide SCSI tape drives on another SCSI
controller.

Arcserve is an OS independent solution. One just needs to install Arcserve push clients on
each server that needs to be backed up (Linux/Unix, NT, Novell, etc)
