backups

What is the general consensus on backup strategies? I am replanning the
entire server structure of the domain and backups are a big issue.

I am thinking a server build backup to tape each month and a nightly backup
of user data including Exchange and SQL.

Is it better to have server attached tapes, external tapes or send all
backups to one central server / disk drive?

Hi,
The best practice is to bring all the backups to one central server .
Because when you will schedule it will only use network traffice
which you can configure in off Hours
and then you can do maintenance on one single server
