Backup Failing - strange log

J

John Schmidt

We didn't use to have problems with backup running to the local hard drive,
but it constantly isn't backing up now.

We have it running on one computer, backing up only data files from another
computer via the network. The backup is supposed to be placed in c:\backup
with a filename of Weekly.bkf, but nothing happens. The resulting error in
the log file is:

Skipped files in "NT\NTBackup\data\Weekly.bks" folder. Folder not found.

'Any idea why this is happening? I've gone through the backup wizard several
times, but always get a similar error in the log files.

Thanks for any ideas.

You don't say whether the two machines are in the same building or not. I
assume you realize that if the place burns to the ground, your backup will
be gone, along with the original data from the other machine. Backups are
supposed to be taken off premises, or stored in a TRULY fireproof vault.

The C:\ drive is removable - it's taken offsite and swapped weekly. We also
do daily backups using a different system.

OK. I'll be quiet now. I've just been through so many nightmares with lost
data...if I can save just one poor soul the same experience...

I do appreciate your concern. Now I just need to go to the office where
we're having this problem and see if that MS doc resolves it.
