Backup \checkfull how does it work?

Vista backup creates a scheduled task CheckFull.
How does this decide if a full backup is needed?
What does it do if a full backup is needed?
Configure the next AutomaticBackup to be a full backup.
Or run a full backup immediately.

I need to know this because I want to configure all my automatic backup
tasks to run at night and wake my PC and ensure that they do not overlap.

Vista determines a full backup is needed (which results in a message to the
user recommending a new full backup) based on a number of factors:

* number of files backed up over time vs. recently
* number of media
* amount of time since last full backup

To reiterate, Vista provides a message recommending a full backup but does
not actually configure the full backup.

I understand your curiosity on the subject and I highly recommend making
your schedule changes through the backup application, not in the Task
Scheduler directly.

Thanks Jill for the information. I could not find it in the Vista help. Can
you point us to a detailled backup documentation?

Wakeup computer cannot be configured in the backup app. This should be
possible because most people will want to run their backups at night and let
their computer sleep when idle.

There's no additional backup documentation that I'm aware of. We do blog
about it from time to time at http://blogs.technet.com/filecab/default.aspx
and we've posted chat transcripts here as well.

I understand that the UI does not give you the option of waking the
computer--you would have to do this via the scheduled task itself. I will
pass your feedback along to the Backup team.
