backspace key functions as back button in a form

When filling out a form using IE6 browser with all of the
most recent microsoft updates, a user will occasionally
make a mistake when putting data into a field in a form.
When they click the backspace key on their keyboard, the
browser goes back a page in history instead of going back
one character space. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This only occurs for a few users and they are using
different operating systems. (XP & 2000)We do not have
these problems using Netscape but we would prefer to use
IE6.

I found this on knowledge base discribing the exact same

....but this article gave no resolution. HELP!

What keyboard(?) are you using? Works on my keyboard.
On a laptop this might be somewhere else.

We have tried compaq, dell, & gateway keyboards and they
all have the same results.

This problem only occurs with a few users but we are
unable to determine what the common denominator is.
