backing up the system

Does anyone know of an economical program that can back up an existing
~2.5-3 GB system to a CD-R/CD-RW disk that also has the capacity to restore
the system?

I just bought a reconditioned computer with Windows 2000 Pro as the
operating system.

I spent some time downloading the all the "current" updates.
If I have to restore the system (because of future installation issues or my
tweaking), I would like to start with the current updates rather than
starting from scratch and re-installing all the updates again.

Any help will be appreciated.

I use Backup MyPC by Veritas, sold by Stomp, search for best price
here http://shopper.cnet.com/

I use DVD-R but it will also use CD-R, and will span multiple discs

There is an option to create a restore set of 6 3.5" disks
