Backing Up Files

How do I back up files on my Windows XP? It was so easy
on my Mac. I would just put in a disc and drag the file
onto it. In "The Missing Manual" it says to put in my XP
CD-ROM and click on the "VALUEADD - MFST - NTBACKUP"
folder. I don't know which CD-ROM to use ( Driver,
Application, or System Recovery). I've put them all in
and have not seen that folder listed.

Hi,

The backup program is optional in WinXP Home, and some system builders do
not include it. Yours may be one of those cases.

Debbie the NTBackup app that ships with retail versions of XP does not
support a direct backup to CD or DVD. You might want to look at a third
party solution. For example Nero 6 from www.nero.com has a backup
application that works nicely for direct backup to CD or DVD and can be
scheduled. Nero has a companion application called InCD this will enable you
to preformat CD-R/W or DVD-R/W and you can then drag and drop files directly
to the disk as you had with your Mac.

It sound like your computer came with a System Restore CD, rather
than a regular Windows XP installation CD. That's why you don't
have the folder.
