Windows XP Professional backup utility

Guest

Hi!

I just read Ed Bott's 7/14/03 "Windows XP Backup Made Easy". Step 4 under
"Open Windows XP Backup" says:

In Windows Explorer, double-click the ValueAdd folder, then Msft and then
Ntbackup.

Well, there is no Ntbackup in my Msft folder.

Note: My Windows XP Professional disc is version 2002 with Service Pack 2
included on it.

Any ideas? Thanks and have a great day!!!

[[If you are using a computer that an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
provided with a pre-installed copy of Windows XP, the Valueadd and Support
folders may not exist on your hard disk or on the recovery CD-ROM that was
included with your computer.

This issue can occur because OEM computers that include a pre-installed copy
of Windows XP do not include a Windows XP CD-ROM, or the Valueadd and
Support folders. Instead, OEM computers typically include a restoration
CD-ROM, and this CD-ROM does not contain the Valueadd and Support folders.

Among others, some of the utilities in this folder are USMT Command line
components, NTBACKUP]]

Thanks for your quick reply. However my computer is not OEM. I built it
myself. I was having problems and MS sent me a new XP Pro disc w/ SP2 on it.
I then did a "clean, full" install with their disc.

If you have Pro then it is probably already installed. Start ==> Accessories
==> System tools ==> backup or simply Start ==> Run ==> NTBackup

Oops.

NTBACKUP.EX_ is in the \I386 folder on the XP Pro disk.

Ntbackup.exe is installed by default on XP Pro.

%SystemRoot%\system32\ntbackup.exe

Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Backup
