"Backgrounds" on Master Slides Disappear

I run Powerpoint on Windows XP and after using it for some time, any
backgrounds, graphics, text that I have on the slide master fail to
show up after awhile. It is still there, it just does not display in
the main window.

You can still see it on "slide window" on the left hand side of the
window (this is the window that shows all the slides in your deck and
allows you to move them around).

The only way to fix things is to reboot and then everything works fine
again for a couple of days and then I have to do it again when the
problem re-appears.

Any help would be welcome....Thanks!

That does fix it - thanks so much. Actually, it does not fix it but
let's me know I need to upgrade my driver.

I am on a laptop and I bet this gets messed up when I switch from
using a monitor to laptop LCD.
