Background Colors and Buttons Not Displaying in IE and some XP Applications.

I am having trouble viewing the background colors and some buttons for
all web pages and some local applications.

I can see no backgrounds on any webpage. For instance, on the
microsoft.com main home page, on the nav bar on the left under the
Microsoft logo in the top left, all items in the list are text only and
have no background color. It is only white.

Also, some buttons do not show up at all. I can "find" them by
highlighing the page and seeing where they are. Or by hoovering
around with the mouse until a "hint" pops up.

Most graphics and logos show up.

I have tried several things and thought it might be sonething with IE6.
I installed IE7 just to see if it fixed it.... but to no avail.

I have no idea what I could have done to cause this.

I am a seasoned software developer, but feel like a novice with this
problem.

If anyone can help me find my buttons, please email me or post. I
would be very thankful.

Thanks,

Kevin Smith

Have a look at the IE Accessibility settings.

IE | Tools | Internet Options | General tab |
Accessibility button | Make sure that nothing is selected.

Also see what is selected under the Colors and Fonts buttons.

To see what the settings do, Right-click the item, and then click the What's
This? command.

Or... [[Help is available for each item in this group. Click ? at the top of
the dialog box, and then click the item you want information about.]]

Wes,

I went to:

IE | Tools | Internet Options | General tab |
Accessibility button |

Then, under the "Formatting" section, I un-selected the "Ignore
colors specified on webpages" checkbox. I am unsure when or how this
got checked, but have browsed some webpages that were giving me trouble
and this seems to have fixed it.

Thanks Wes for your help.
