backgound menu color

In the IE on XP the backgound color of the menu bar has turned black, so i
can't
read the menu items as they are black text on black backrgound.
How ca I resolve this problem?

Appearance
Advanced
Active - and maybe Inctive - Title bar in the "Item" box.
