IR 8 Problem

I am using Internet Explorer v8 in XP SP3. Suddenly, the menu bars at
the top have become unreadable. They are black with the menu items
white, but an unviewable white. I don't know what caused this. Nor
do I know how to control the colors of the menu bars anyway.

So can someone tell me how to make the damned bars readable again?

Thanks

Fred:

My Computer > Properties > Advanced (tab) > Performance > Settings

If you have "custom" settings make a note of them. Change whatever the
current mode is to some other mode then back again. Redo the custom
settings click OK and, maybe, some other "appearance" settings.

Thanks - I tried to follow your suggestion, but couldn't. However I
found this suggestion by googling the problem:

Change your windows theme to something else and then change it back
to classic and the black menu bars will disappear for a while.

That worked. I sure am disappointed to discover a gremlin lurks out
there in IE8. I guess that's where it is. But maybe it isn't.

Anyway

Thanks

If you change the Windows Desktop Theme and it cahnged the apperance of IE
then don't blame IE. It only inherits constructs set by the Windows Theme
that had/has been chosen. Consider alterations in the ability to view
things in IE as Side Effects or Consequences of that choice.

I agree. It's just that I did not alter any settings in either XP SP3
or IE. I normally use Firefox, and only accessed IE to help a friend.
Imagine my surprise.
