Hello

I am trying to save a copy of the MS Access 2003 .mdb file that I am working
on to a CD-RW disk in my CD drive. This is what I did;

I run Access and open the database. Then from the file menu I select "Back
Up Database" then in the "Save In:" area I select 'CD Drive (E:)' and thats
it, but he following message apears.

"Incorrect Function".

Note: I have been able to save and delete other data files to the same CD
in the same drive using other applications.

Whats wrong?

You need to close the database and use a program to "burn" the database file
to your CD

Thank you very much Alan Murphy

I'll try that now. I will post results

I used Nero to burn the Database to CDRW and it worked fine. I am using the
CD copy as a backup copy of my Access data in case my hard drive is damaged.

On loading the file from CD I noticed the it was a read only file and just
by copying the file from the CD it automatically became read write again.

Is that how it is with rwCD's?

At least I have a workable solution now. It's a bit strange having to use a
third party software application to do this but I suppose thats why Nero was
shipped with my PC when I bought it.

I am glad that it works.

That is the normal process. But remember when you copy to your hard drive
you must uncheck the "read only" property setting.

Also, just a point to be aware of you cannot backup your database using NERO
then backup your database again on the same disk using a different program
like ROXIO. I found this the hard way by using ROXIO to backup my database
at work to a CD then worked on the copy at home and tried to put a copy on
the same CD using NERO and found it was not possible. I had to use a blank
CD.
