awdflash.exe will not delete from Desktop

It seems someone, by mistake, extracted a bios flash program (AWDFLASH.EXE)
onto the Desktop in Windows XP Pro.

When I try to delete this file, it tells me it is in use by another program.
I have checked the registry, win.ini, system.ini, boot.ini, running programs
and drivers and can find no reference that tells me what is running or
locking it (tried disabling all but known items in msconfig)

Any ideas on how to so this?

I have tried by boot disk (would not recognize C:) and via safemode as well.

Someone has got to have a solution besides deleting the login or
reformatting.

Thanks in advance.
