Hello, All!

Is any one here using Avira's firewall? it's is included with Avira's
Security Suite. I want to upgrade my servers firewall.

If not... any suggestions for a /good/ firewall would be great.

A good FireWall is a combination of the Windows XP/Vista/Win7 FireWall in conjuntion with
a NAT Router or a FireWall Appliance.

Some say, Win's XP/Vista/Win7 firewall /ISN'T/ all that good. I do find
that hard to be true.

And DHL was one of them not so long ago (about xp anyway). Must 've
changed his mind.

Some expect too much from a firewall application.

Not that I'm aware of.

I'm suggesting the threshold of acceptance for DHL might have been at
xpsp3. Several security features were added with that service pack.

Can you tell me, in your own words, what a firewall does when it "works,
and... and...."?

If you keep your computer working too hard for too long and it gets way too
hot, the firewall will prevent the fire from spreading. :)

There has never been an issue with any version of xp firewall. It
performs its function well and undeservedly gets bad press for not
doing things which are beyond its remit.

XP Gold and XPSP1 was premature. It was improved in SP2 and SP3.

Yes. This is why I was trying to get Gufus to state what functions he
expects from a firewall application.

Seam's fine for inbound, my server is a little more complex, especially with
MS-DOS workstation(s). I'm dealing with /many/ protocols port-forward
settings etc...

I use this link lots: https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
