GOODBYE AVIRA; HELLO AVAST!

FOOBAR

WAS very happy with Avira under XP. Good detection rate,
better than I expected for a free program.

Then as with most growing companies, things started to slide.
First they are giving me error messages on update so I have
to hunt for the solution and new registration key. Is it free
or not? Make up you F**king minds?

Then, under Windows 7 with Comodo installed-makes no
difference whether defense or proactive is engages or
not-damn Avira program latest ver reboots my computer about a
third of the way into a scan. Researched it and tried earlier
version 9.xx, same problem.

Once a program starts rebooting your machine that's a good
indication the developers/company does not know what the hell
they are doing.

Installed Avast, no problem since. works fine, faster than
Avira. BTW anyone know what cttunei.dll is, could not find a
reference online, supposedly contains Win32_Malware-gen which
was set to system ownership requiring modification before
Avast could get rid of it.

Goodbye Avira, Hello Avast. You were nice while you lasted-
kinda a like an American woman who you marry, heheheh.

I've been using (and recommending) the freebie Avast for years. I'd been
doing both AVG and Avira before that, but both seemed to be
progressively-worse pissoffs for various reasons.

Just be aware that EVERY "security app" out there is going to have
screwups. Avast's been damned good about fixing them promptly.

That's not necessarily true.
Some years ago it took 2 months for Avast to negate a VBS:Zulu False Positive declaration
on some Microsoft web pages.

2 months to negate a False Positive is NOT prompt.

What error messages on updates?
What new registration key?
I never had such problems with Avira.

But if you can't handle a simple free product as Avira, I suppose it is
better you to find your luck somewhere else.
