AVI player

I have some .avi files im trying to play. Neither Windows Media Player or
Realplayer will play the video but they do play the audio. Is there a
player that will work with avi files you would recommend or are there
downloads to make WMP player work?

any help appreciated

You don't need a new media player, only a codec. Install ffdshow and WMP
will likely have no problem playing that avi file:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/

thanks I downloaded a driver and player from divx and it now works
fantastico! either as standalone player or with WMP...very cool
